Not A Single Tear : Keren Weissman 2010

Not A Single Tear : Keren Weissman 2010

This is the first review for The Hinterlands Blog and I have chosen to write briefly about 'Not a Single Tear' 2010, Written, Directed and Produced by Keren Weissman, based in Tel Aviv.

I won't do be writing the synopsis to my reviews, not my forte, so here's the Official Synopsis: Dana has two sisters; the older one wants to kill her, and the younger is about to die. Dana will do anything to have a party for her 9th birthday, and she's willing to pay any price.

A debut short film made reasonabley inexpensively, with a budget of  $15,000 at an incredibly high quality, with an acute eye for human interaction at these specifically difficult moments in life. Some of the cinematography is breathtaking and yet very subtle. I only had one moment where I thought that edit seemed a bit strange or possibly even where it didn't work which for a debut is crazily proficient.

The lead role Bar Miniely is outstanding. She is a find and a half (I'm really jealous!) as could be the Director Keren Weissman.

(Out of 5 stars) Rating : ****
If on Sale (Worth  Buying in a compilation of Shorts) : ****
Value for Budget : ****
